Susan Macken,

President, 2010-2111

“Building Communities, Bridging Continents” is this year’s Rotary theme. And, the Oelwein Rotary Club plans to uphold this theme. Some of the goals for this year include giving the third grade students in Oelwein their own dictionaries through the “Dictionary Project”, sponsoring a writing workshop to record citizens’ memories on Polio, and hosting a Group Study Exchange partner from New Zealand.

Projects such as these and the camaraderie of club members working to achieve life-changing missions is why I am excited and proud to call myself a Rotarian. Eradicate Polio, obtain clean drinking water, donate funds to communities suffering from disasters, clean up a local park, and participate in community events. Believe in “Service Above Self!”
